Registration of Dry Cleaning & Laundry Houses Bye-Law No. 12 of 2016
Part XIII — Bwari Area Council FCT Abuja, NigeriaPursuant to the provisions of Section 7 and the Fourth Schedule to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), and other relevant Sections of the Local Government Act, Laws of the FCT Abuja 2006, this Bye-Law regulates the operation of dry cleaning and laundry businesses within the territorial jurisdiction of the Bwari Area Council.
Licensing Requirement
Sections 1–4 — Obtaining & Maintaining an Operating LicenseNo person (whether natural or artificial) shall carry on the business of dry cleaning and/or laundry services without a prior license issued by the Bwari Area Council.
- An Operating License shall be obtained by the dry cleaning and/or laundry outfit upon formal application to the Area Council, subject to payment of the prescribed license fee.
- The license fee depends on the size and location of the outfit and shall be reviewed annually with payment due not later than 31st March of each year.
- No Operating License shall be issued until an inspection of the business premises has been made and a written report submitted by an authorized officer or agent of the Bwari Area Council.
- The Operating License shall be renewed annually and is deemed expired on the 31st of December of the relevant year.
Offences & Penalties
Section 6 — Operating Without a LicenseAny dry cleaning and/or laundry outfit or person who carries on business without a prior Operating License shall be guilty of an offence and upon conviction be liable as follows:
